Mickelson’s Clubs For Record-Tying 63

There is no doubt that Phil Michelson will be remembered as one of the best golfers of the modern era.

In his latest outing, he came very close to becoming the first player in the history of major championship to shoot 62. This happened at Royal Troon and he made a record-tying score of 8-under 63 after the first round.

All the success that he earned at the Royal Troon is partly due to the clubs that he used to play. He used the Callaway X Forged ’13 irons to play at Royal Troon. This was the same irons that he used when he clinched the 2013 Open Championship. He also used the same Odyssey Versa#9 putter that he used in 2013 at the Royal Troon. It looks like he should carry these clubs in his bag for every tournament and use them. This could do wonders for his game.

Mickelson was at his best golfing form and hot 89 percent of his greens in regulations. He was also able to convert eight of the birdies that came his way. Phil said that he felt it very easy on the day and had a great feeling running inside him. He did not have to strain much as everything on that day came easy to him. This shows that with a good frame of mind and good feeling of the course, one can easily play like a true champion.

The other clubs that are inside the Mickelson’s golf kit bag includes: Callaway XR 16 Pro 3-wood, 8.5 degrees Callaway XR 16 Sub Zero driver, Callaway Chrome softball and the Callaway Mac Daddy PM Grind wedges. This leftie golfer has so far won over 40 PGA tour events and is the player to have played on most of the US Ryder Cup teams so far.
